Untitled XI - Series: Effacement de la trace
Untitled XI - Series: Effacement de la trace
These prints are unique, dated and numbered 1/1 made from an acid-etched iron plate then printed in 1 copy.
Series entitled “The erasure of the trace or the trace of the erasure? ".
Daniel MOURRE shows in his work the programmed finitude of Man. For this he uses exclusively the manhole cover, which symbolizes industrial human civilization for him, and which he uses through different techniques.
Due to its antinomy, the object allows the artist to highlight the extremes observed in our Society. In this series, he uses his handprints like those found in the caves of Lascaux. Daniel MOURRE shows works from the beginning of Art but also its end. Because if you look closely at the work, you will discover the filigree imprint of a cast iron manhole cover, a completely contemporary object. Is this the beginning of art or its end? The erasure of the trace or the trace of the erasure? what remains or what will remain of Man?
We can see his works as the fossilized imprints of an industrial era that lost meaning and was destroyed. The pieces that it shows join, in their total contemporaneity, a sort of reminder of primitive art, a new first post-collapse art. The artist calls his work: Finitism.
