During the first confinement, I painted individual portraits of members of an imaginary family that I called 'Rick's family' inspired by the universe of fashion designer Rick Owen.
Silent in the family is for me a representation of the components of a mother, a woman, a quiet force until exhaustion. She is silent and looks us straight in the eye - It is a work in memory of my own mother. A universe of visceral respect, confused markers of security, unspoken things, secrets, unanswered questions, all covered by the mantle of love.
The image itself could represent many things:
celestial apparition, Madonna of tormented souls, octopus woman, elegant spider, Indian woman at the head of a tribe.
She walks through the castle of my fantasy, covered in the dust of time. She preserves her dignity and her sense of responsibility against all odds.
