The Ogre

Work from the Brûlées series, this work depicts the figure of an “ogre” monstrous like those described in many tales and legends. A contrast striking scale between this terrifying character and the worried figure in the foreground. We can note how this painting, although damaged on all sides, remains expressive; and the “holes”, the missing parts, here again, have an essential role in the figure. The enormous head split down in the middle, the gaping hole in the center, the white net escaping from its threatening-toothed maw. More than an image it's almost a remainder archaeological preserved under glass.
