Ilithyie (pal/2-n°13)

A work from the Palimpsests/2 series. Ilithyia is a figure from mythology Greek, the goddess of childbirth, a Minoan Mother Goddess. Here the process of  “palimpsest” differs, because this recent series is executed on canvas. Different states always underlying, which appear voluntarily in certain details. The models of the figure, notably the breasts and the pelvis, evoke its proximity to the maternity. A certain fullness made of sweetness and fertility emerges. The colored layers are always coated with copal resin which gives the paste its hardness and a side vitrified by time. The thin layer of glossy wax on the surface gives it this light satin shine.
