Ecce Mulier

From the recent Palimpsestes/2 series, this work gave rise to a long process of creation layer after layer and successive repaintings until the final stage of abrasion, of
sanding, to bring into existence this residual palimpsest which ultimately evokes the distant imprint of the “original woman”; (Ecce Mulier) "here is the Woman", and echoing the expression "Ecce Homo", in the Christian tradition for the figure of Christ carrying his Crown of thorns. (A man of sorrows). But here, through this expression attributed to the female figure, the work rather attempts to evoke the universal feminine, the "ontological woman" so to speak, the one who takes shape through the ages, imprinted with an immemorial past which emerges in the painting; preserved in the resin and the final wax film.
